Arndt Small Animal Center in Karlsruhe receives a computed tomography scanner – CT 150 150 Sven Jan Arndt

The small animal center now has a computed tomography scanner specifically designed for small animals and pets such as dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. Thanks to its technology (digital volume tomography), the 60% -90 % requires less radiation than conventional 16-slice computed tomography scanners while offering up to 30 times higher resolution. This is gentler on the animals and significantly improves diagnostics.

This allows us, among other things, to create 3D images of our patients and simultaneously print them using a 3D printer. This opens up entirely new possibilities, particularly in surgical preparation:

Other areas of application for the new computed tomography scanner at the Durlach Small Animal Center include:

• Dental x-rays, e.g., for FORL in cats
• But dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs can also be examined very thoroughly using computed tomography.
• Diagnosis of tumors and metastases
• Setting bone fractures
• Preoperative planning of fracture treatment
• Depiction of vessels, bile ducts and
Gastrointestinal segments with corresponding
Contrast agents
• Placement of probes
• Observation of dynamic processes
– Heart movement
– Swallowing movement (esophageal imaging)
• integrated implant control during
of the surgical procedure (function similar to a C-arm)
• Biopsies
• Positioning check before the CT scan
